My e-reader

· tools

I use Matter for almost all of my reading, besides papers and books. I keep papers in Zotero, while my books are distributed across Zotero, the real world, my Kindle, and Apple Books. I have found Matter incredibly useful for collating newspaper articles, blogs, pdfs, and websites so I can do all my reading in one place. It takes three clicks to send any website to Matter on the phone, and just one click on desktop. It scrapes basically any website into one unified format — and you can change the font, color, and size to your liking. It also has the added benefit of being able to bypass paywalls on many online newspapers.

The queue system is intuitive, the discovery page fits my preferences quite well, and I can subscribe to arbitrary RSS and Substack feeds from the app and see them in an ‘inbox’ tab. The UI is generally quite pleasing. I believe most of these features, minus the RSS feeds, are available to free users. I would like to thank Alana Goyal for introducing me to Matter.
